Angels of East Africa

Angels of East Africa is a humanitarian organization dedicated to rescuing, restoring, and enabling the children caught in the crossfire of rebel atrocities in South Sudan and Northern Uganda.

Sam Childers is the founder of Angels of East Africa. He is a former drug dealer, and after finding Christ, went to Sudan to work with the child soldiers from the LRA.

I’m sure many of you have heard of Invisible Children. There is a lot in comparison. The only difference is, Sam actually fights, carries a gun around, fighting to rescue child soldiers and those who are threatened to be abducted and their families.

It’s crazy to think about. He is a pastor here in the States, and he flies to Southern Sudan to fight the rebels and rescue children.

I normally wouldn’t agree with this idea, but I can’t help but agree. I am a non-violent, enemy-loving supporter, but when it comes to this, I’d go and join Sam in fighting to rescue children and families.

So, apparently, there is a movie coming out called Machine Gun Preacher with Gerard Butler. It is about Sam Childers life and what he is doing at this very moment in Southern Sudan.

A very inspiring story. Can’t wait to see the movie. Comes out Fall of next year (2011). Make sure to check it out. All the proceeds of the movie go to building a new orphanage in Southern Sudan for the rescued child soldiers.
