Grandpa Stonestreet

Posted in Uncategorized by Stephen Stonestreet on October 8, 2010

This morning at 4:30am, my grandfather (Dads Dad) passed away. Out of anyone in the world, he was the most respected and honored man in my life. The wisdom, love, and stern gentle judgement of my life has been more than a blessing. I can’t describe how meaningful it was to have him in my life, to come from his line, and for him to be a father to me.

His handshake was the best. The look in his eye when I walked in the room. The pure joy of being in the presence of the Lord. I will always remember the times while my brother would play the piano and sing, and Grandpa would raise his hands high in complete reverence and joy to God. An image that will stay with me forever.

Monday (Visitation) and Tuesday (Funeral) will be a beautiful time of celebration of his life. He will be greatly missed, but he did what God had for him to do, with all his might, with much faith, and great love.

Thank you, Grandpa, for what you have meant to me, and for what you have given. Rest in peace, Sir.

Here’s a photo from old times. He was a serious stud. ha (My dad, Greg, is the one holding my cousin, Joanna – who is now 32)…

Stephen: Not meaning to correct you, but that is your Uncle Dana holding your cousin Joanna … Although at the time Dana and Greg looked very similar – funny how brothers appear so similar in appearance at times.

I loved reading this about your grandpa. He, too, made a huge impression on my life and the lives of everyone in my family.

I had to take a double-take when David said that was Dana in the pic. How funny! He does look like your dad, but now I can see that it’s Dana.

Praying for you and the entire Stonestreet clan. I so wish I could be there to celebrate and mourn with your family. Love to all of you,

    Hannah
